Areola Reduction and Nipple Correction
Areola reduction and nipple correction are surgical procedures aimed at adjusting their size, shape or position. They make it possible to address both congenital and acquired abnormalities and to bring the appearance of the areolas and nipples into proportion with the breasts.
Who is the procedure suitable for?
These procedures are suitable for women and men who are unhappy with the size or shape of their areolas or the appearance of their nipples. They can be a solution, for example, for markedly enlarged or asymmetrical areolas, inverted nipples or changes following pregnancy, breastfeeding or previous operations. The suitability of a particular approach depends on the nature of the abnormality, the client's anatomy and health.
What does it address?
Enlarged areolas
Areola asymmetry
Inverted nipples
Nipple shape abnormalities
The procedure
Areola reduction
In areola reduction, the plastic surgeon removes part of the pigmented skin around the circumference of the areola and adjusts its size and, where necessary, its shape. The edges of the skin are then closed with fine stitches. The resulting scar lies at the border between the areola and the surrounding skin.
Nipple correction
The surgical technique depends on the type of abnormality. For inverted nipples, the tissues causing the inversion are surgically released. When correcting excessively protruding or enlarged nipples, their height or volume can be reduced as required.
Depending on their extent, the procedures can be performed under local anaesthesia or, where appropriate, general anaesthesia. The specific approach is chosen individually, taking into account the desired correction and preserving the function of the breast tissue.

Post-operative care
After the procedure, mild swelling, sensitivity or minor bruising may occur in the treated area. It is important to keep the surgical wounds clean, protect them from mechanical irritation and follow your plastic surgeon's recommendations.
During healing, it is advisable to limit physical exertion and activities that cause pressure or friction in the breast area. Post-operative care includes follow-up check-ups and scar care according to your doctor's instructions.
Benefits of the procedure
Targeted correction of the areolas and nipples.
Correction possible without changing breast volume.
Extent of surgery individually tailored.
Can be combined with other breast operations.
