Labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is an aesthetic surgical procedure that reduces the labia minora and can correct their asymmetry. It is a short procedure with a quick cosmetic effect and minimal time off work.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Slightly enlarged labia minora are entirely normal and are not a problem in themselves. However, if the enlargement is more pronounced, women may experience discomfort during sport or when wearing swimwear or tight underwear, as well as difficulties with hygiene or during sexual intercourse. Purely aesthetic dissatisfaction that lowers self-confidence can also be a reason for the procedure. Labiaplasty is one of the most common procedures in aesthetic genital surgery. The doctor will assess whether it is suitable for you at a discreet consultation.
What is labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is the surgical reshaping of the labia minora, in which the doctor reduces their size and, where needed, corrects asymmetry between the left and right sides. There are several surgical techniques, and the choice of the most suitable one is based on the anatomy of the genitals and the patient’s wishes. The aim is a natural appearance and relief from the problems caused by enlarged labia. The procedure is short and healing usually proceeds without complications.
What does it address?
- Enlarged labia minora
- Labial asymmetry
- Discomfort during sport
- Difficulties with intimacy
How labiaplasty works
The procedure is performed in the gynaecological position and takes approximately 45 minutes on average. It is carried out under short general anaesthesia; local anaesthesia is not recommended, as the injected substance changes the shape of the tissue and reduces the precision of the procedure. The doctor chooses the surgical technique according to your anatomy and the agreed goals. The wound is closed with absorbable material, so the stitches do not need to be removed. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis or with a one-day hospital stay.

Course of the treatment
Before the procedure, you will have a consultation with the doctor, who will examine you, explain the possible techniques and discuss the result you would like. Here you will also learn the exact post-operative regimen and the price. On the day of the procedure, you come to the clinic, where you will receive short general anaesthesia and the operation itself will take around 45 minutes. After waking up and a short period of observation, you can go home the same day as agreed, or stay for a one-day hospital stay.
Post-operative care
Thanks to absorbable sutures, there is no need to have stitches removed. It is advisable to avoid sport for two weeks, and sexual intercourse should be postponed for at least three to four weeks. Time off work is usually minimal and post-operative complications are rare. The doctor will go through the detailed regimen for the healing period, including hygiene and suitable clothing, with you at the pre-operative consultation.
