Pigmented spots
Pigmentation spots most often develop as a result of sun exposure, natural skin ageing, hormonal changes or as a consequence of inflammatory skin conditions. Modern laser treatment makes it possible to target selected types of pigmentation and helps to even out skin tone.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Laser treatment is suitable for patients with selected pigmented lesions caused by sun exposure, natural skin ageing or other factors. Treatable conditions include, for example, sun-induced pigmentation, age spots and other selected pigmentation changes. The suitability of the procedure is always decided by the doctor after an initial examination.
What are pigmentation spots?
Pigmentation spots develop in areas where the skin produces or stores a larger amount of the skin pigment melanin. The most common cause is long-term sun exposure, while age, hormonal influences and hereditary predisposition also play a role. They include, for example, sun spots and age spots, freckles and some congenital pigmentations. In most cases these are harmless changes, yet it is important that every spot is checked by a doctor before treatment to rule out changes that require a different approach.
What does it address?
Sun-induced pigmentation
Age spots
Post-inflammatory spots
Pigmented lesions
Uneven pigmentation
Pigmentation changes
Healing process
Before the treatment, the doctor assesses the type of pigmented lesion and its suitability for laser removal. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and, depending on the extent of the treatment, usually takes a few minutes. The ruby laser emits light energy that is selectively absorbed by the melanin accumulated in the pigmentation spot. The pigment then gradually breaks down and is naturally cleared by the body. To achieve the optimal result, more than one treatment may be recommended depending on the type and extent of the pigmentation.

FAQ
Can every pigmentation spot be removed with a laser?
No. The suitability of treatment is decided by the doctor after examining the spot. Some pigmented lesions must first be professionally assessed or treated in a different way.
Is the treatment painful?
A brief stinging sensation is usually felt during the procedure. For more sensitive areas, a numbing cream can be applied beforehand.
How many treatments are needed?
It depends on the type and depth of the pigmentation. Some spots may require more than one session; the doctor will set out a specific plan at the consultation.
Can the spots come back?
If the skin is repeatedly exposed to the sun, pigmentation may reappear. That is why protection with a high SPF is important after treatment and in the long term.
