Pressotherapy lymphatic drainage

A gentle device-based method that supports lymph flow and can relieve the feeling of heavy legs, swelling or fluid retention. The treatment is non-invasive, pleasant and requires no recovery time. The doctor will assess whether the therapy is suitable for you at the consultation.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

Pressotherapy lymphatic drainage is suitable for a wide range of clients. It is particularly appreciated by people who stand or sit for long periods at work and experience heavy, tired legs or swelling. It can also be beneficial for the appearance of cellulite, lymphoedema, problems associated with varicose veins, during recovery after an injury or surgery, or as part of recovery after sporting activity. Before starting the therapy, you will have a consultation at which the doctor will assess your health and recommend a suitable number of sessions.

What is the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system is a network of vessels and lymph nodes that plays an important role in the body's immune defences and in removing waste products and excess fluid from tissues. Unlike the bloodstream, it has no pump of its own – lymph flow is driven mainly by muscle movement. With prolonged sitting or standing, lack of exercise or after procedures, it can therefore slow down, which may show up as swelling, a feeling of heavy legs or poorer skin quality. Lymphatic drainage helps to support its function.

What does it address?

  • Heavy, tired legs
  • Swelling
  • Signs of cellulite
  • Fluid retention
  • Recovery after exertion

How lymphatic drainage works

Pressotherapy lymphatic drainage uses gradual, rhythmic pressure to gently massage the treated part of the body and support the natural flow of lymph. The treatment begins by opening up the lymphatic pathways in the area of the lymph nodes at the top of the treated limb, and only then does the drainage itself follow. It can be targeted at both the lower and upper half of the body. Regular therapy can help reduce swelling, support the removal of excess fluid and aid the body's overall recovery.

Course of the treatment

At the consultation, the doctor will evaluate your symptoms and health and recommend the scope of the therapy. During the treatment itself you are in a comfortable position; the specialist first opens up the lymphatic pathways in the area of the lymph nodes and then begins the device-based drainage of the selected areas. The treatment is safe and pleasant, many clients find it relaxing and feel relief immediately after the procedure. For the best result, a series of treatments is recommended, the number and frequency of which the doctor will determine.

Aftercare

Lymphatic drainage is non-invasive, so no special aftercare or recovery is needed and you can return to your normal activities straight away. To support the effect, we recommend drinking plenty of fluids, which helps the body eliminate the released fluid. Regular exercise, such as walking, is also beneficial as it naturally supports lymph flow. The specialist treating you will let you know the recommended schedule for further sessions.
