What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a method in which very fine, controlled micro-channels are created in the skin. The skin responds to this stimulus with natural healing, during which the production of new collagen and elastin is stimulated. As a result, the skin can gradually look firmer, smoother and more even. The micro-channels also temporarily make it easier for the active ingredients of the serums applied during the treatment to penetrate the skin.

How the treatment works
The SkinPen is a handheld device with a single-use sterile head fitted with fine needles. The doctor moves it gradually over the treated area, adjusting the needle depth to the specific area and the condition of the skin. The resulting micro-channels trigger natural regenerative processes in the skin, which continue for several weeks after the treatment. That is why the result develops gradually and a course of treatments is usually recommended, at intervals determined by the doctor.

Course of the treatment
The treatment is preceded by a consultation, during which the doctor assesses the condition of your skin and proposes a plan. The skin is first thoroughly cleansed and a numbing cream is applied. Once it has taken effect, the doctor applies a gliding gel or serum and treats the chosen area with the SkinPen device. Finally, the skin is soothed and treated with a suitable product. The whole treatment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the extent.
Aftercare
Immediately after the treatment, the skin is red, similar to sunburn; the redness and sensitivity usually subside within one to two days. During this period, avoid make-up, saunas, swimming pools and sunbathing. Use moisturising and soothing products and protect your skin consistently with a cream containing a UV filter. Skin regeneration continues for several weeks, during which the result gradually develops. Your doctor will give you detailed instructions.

Is microneedling painful?

How many treatments are needed?

When will I see the result?
