Eyelid surgery
Blepharoplasty removes excess skin from the upper eyelids and, where necessary, reduces fat bags under the eyes. It can thus help give the eye area a more rested and fresher appearance.
Who is the procedure suitable for?
Eyelid surgery is suitable for women and men bothered by drooping upper eyelid skin, a feeling of heavy eyelids or pronounced bags under the eyes. In some cases, excess skin can also restrict the field of vision. The procedure may be suitable for age-related changes around the eyes as well as for congenital anatomical features. The doctor decides on the suitability and extent of the operation on the basis of an individual examination.
What does it address?
Drooping upper eyelids
Bags under the eyes
Excess eyelid skin
Feeling of heavy eyelids
The procedure
Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both at the same time.
During upper eyelid surgery, the plastic surgeon removes excess skin and, if necessary, also adjusts the fatty tissue. The incision is usually placed in the natural crease of the upper eyelid so that the resulting scar is as inconspicuous as possible.
Lower eyelid surgery mainly addresses fat bags and, where applicable, excess skin. The incision can be made just below the lower lash line or, in suitable cases, on the inner side of the eyelid.
The extent of the procedure and the type of anaesthesia depend on the planned correction and the client's health.

Post-operative care
After eyelid surgery, swelling, bruising or increased sensitivity around the eyes may occur. During the first 24–48 hours, rest and the application of cold compresses as instructed by the doctor are recommended.
The stitches are usually removed 6–7 days after the procedure. In the following weeks, it is advisable to limit sport, strenuous physical exertion and activities that could strain the operated area. Protecting the scars from sunlight and following the recommended aftercare are also important.
The return to normal activities depends on the extent of the procedure and your individual healing process.
Benefits of the procedure

FAQ
Will eyelid surgery help with dark circles under the eyes?
If the circles under your eyes are caused by lax skin and fat bags and do not disappear even after sleep, blepharoplasty can reduce them. The cause of the circles is always assessed by the doctor during the consultation.
Will there be visible scars after the procedure?
On the upper eyelid, the incision is made in the natural crease that forms when the eye is open; on the lower eyelid, just below the lashes. Once healed, the scars are therefore usually well hidden.
When are the stitches removed?
The stitches are usually removed on the sixth to seventh day after the operation. You can then gradually return to your normal activities.
When can I return to sport?
Sport and heavier physical exertion should be avoided for three weeks after the procedure. Rest and cold compresses are recommended for the first 24–48 hours.
How much does eyelid surgery cost?
Prices start at CZK 21,000. The final amount depends on the extent and the chosen technique, and the doctor will let you know during the consultation.
