Removal of skin growths
Laser removal of skin growths is a modern, precise method for removing selected skin lesions on the face and body. We most often use an erbium laser for the treatment and, where indicated, a fractional CO₂ laser. Thanks to its high precision, it allows gentle treatment with minimal impact on the surrounding tissue.
Who is the treatment suitable for?
Laser removal is suitable for patients with selected skin lesions on the face and body. Treatable lesions include, for example, certain moles, milia, small cysts, skin tags, fibromas, papillomas, some types of warts, selected pigmentation spots, seborrhoeic keratoses (age spots), xanthelasmas (fatty deposits around the eyes), some types of skin tumours and selected types of scars. The suitability of laser removal is always decided by the doctor based on the nature of the skin lesion.
What does it address?
Skin tags
Fibromas and papillomas
Milia and small cysts
Seborrhoeic keratoses
Xanthelasmas
Selected pigmented lesions
Course of the treatment
Before the procedure itself, the doctor first assesses the nature of the skin lesion and chooses the most suitable method for its removal. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and, depending on the extent of the treatment, usually takes a few minutes. An erbium laser is most often used to remove the growth, and in some cases a fractional CO₂ laser. The laser works very precisely, gradually removing the unwanted tissue with minimal impact on the surrounding skin. For more sensitive areas or larger lesions, the treatment can be performed under local anaesthesia for greater patient comfort.

Healing process
After the skin lesion has been removed, a small scab forms on the treated area, which is a natural part of the healing process. It is important to let it fall off on its own and not to remove it mechanically in any way. The newly formed skin may be pink or more sensitive for a while, but its colour will gradually even out with the surrounding skin. For proper healing, it is necessary to protect the treated area from sunlight, use a cream with a high SPF, follow the recommended home care and follow the instructions of your doctor.
Benefits of the procedure
Gentle removal of skin lesions.
Fast healing of the treated skin.
Histological examination available.
Outpatient procedure with no hospital stay.
FAQ
Is removing a skin growth painful?
You may feel slight stinging or burning during the procedure, especially with larger lesions. More sensitive areas or larger growths can be treated under local anaesthesia.
How long does the procedure take?
Removing a single small lesion usually takes a few minutes. With a larger number of lesions or larger growths, the procedure takes longer, up to about an hour at most.
Will stitches be needed?
With laser removal, the wound usually does not need to be stitched. This reduces the strain on the surrounding tissue and usually shortens the healing time.
Can the removed lesion be examined histologically?
Yes, for selected lesions the removed tissue can be sent for histological examination. The doctor decides whether this is necessary based on the nature of the lesion.
How should I care for the area after the procedure?
Let the scab fall off on its own and do not remove it. Protect the treated area from the sun with a high-SPF cream and follow the doctor's instructions so that healing proceeds without complications.
